What we build
Colormapped combines deterministic color converters, browser-based utilities, curated reference pages, mixing explanations, shade families, palettes, gradients, and focused guides. The useful answer or tool comes first; supporting explanation sits close to the task instead of being added only to make a page longer.
How pages are built
Many Colormapped pages use structured data and reusable templates because the underlying tasks repeat: a color reference needs conversions, a shade page needs comparable values, and a mixing page needs a clear model distinction. Reusing a template does not make the underlying values interchangeable. Page-specific data, sources, caveats, and next actions are kept separate so a blue shade page does not simply become a word-swapped copy of a green one.
Computed values such as HEX/RGB/HSL conversions, contrast ratios, tints, and shades are generated from explicit formulas. Curated palettes, guide examples, and named-color groupings are labeled as curated rather than presented as standards.
Sources and provenance
Reference claims are tied to sources that fit the claim. CSS named-color values use standards-oriented documentation such as MDN; accessibility thresholds point to W3C/WCAG guidance; model explanations use sources such as Adobe; pigment-mixing caveats use paint-manufacturer guidance where relevant. Source links appear on the pages that rely on them.
Exact vs approximate results
Some color operations are deterministic in the chosen digital model. Converting a six-digit sRGB HEX value to integer RGB channels is one example. Other results depend on context: CMYK output changes with profiles, printers, inks, and paper; physical paint mixing changes with pigments, opacity, medium, brand, and ratio. Colormapped labels those results as mathematical or practical approximations instead of presenting false precision.
Corrections and review
Content is reviewed when a page is created or materially changed, and corrections can be reported from any page using the footer issue link. Colormapped does not display a “last updated” date unless the underlying content has actually been reviewed or changed on that date.
