How to find a HEX color from an image
Upload, drag and drop, or paste an image. Then click or tap the pixel you want to sample. For keyboard sampling, focus the image and use the arrow keys, or enter X and Y coordinates and choose Sample coordinate.
The result shows the sampled HEX, RGB, HSL, and alpha values. Copy any value directly, or use the recent-picks row to copy a color you sampled earlier in the same page session.
Image privacy
The image is processed with browser file, canvas, and clipboard APIs. Colormapped does not intentionally upload the selected image to an application server for this tool. Recent picks are kept only in the current page memory and are not written to local storage.
Accuracy and color profiles
For ordinary PNG, JPG, WebP, and GIF images, the tool samples the browser-decoded pixel shown on the canvas. Browsers can interpret embedded image color profiles before drawing to canvas, so the result is best treated as a screen/sRGB-oriented value rather than a print-color measurement.
Images larger than 4096 pixels on either dimension are resized in the browser for performance. When resizing occurs, neighboring pixels can be blended, so use an original-size desktop image editor when a specific source pixel must be measured without resampling.
Useful next steps
Convert a picked value with the HEX to RGB converter, test it in the Contrast Checker, or generate variants with the Tints and Shades Generator.
